Got a kitten today!

He's a 4 month old Platinum Solid Tonkinese. I only took a couple of quick shots, and they're probably bad, but I wanted to play with him, not take pictures.

No name yet, but I'm leaning towards Tungsten. Yes, it's an element, and yes, that choice makes me a total nerd, but it's also Swedish and literally means heavy stone. He's a little guy, but he's muscular and seems very heavy for his size, so the name does fit -- it's almost down to what to call him for short. Tungs? Tungy?

This is my first pet since my family dog Daphne died about 12 years ago. So, I'm scared. But, he's cute and I think we'll survive.

Not too much to report, but I have to start working out. I've stopped with the 1,200 calorie idea because the results weren't worth the difficulty.

Today's weight: 208.4, lost 7.8 lbs., 0.56 lbs./day avg.

This week was harder than the first, but I'm happy with the continued losses. I plan to start a mild, low intensity aerobic routine next week because I don't think I'll be able to continue losing at a rate that will keep me happy without the introduction of regular exercise. I had hoped to lose more weight before starting exercise, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Meals - 1,200 cals.
1:40PM - 425 cals.
Five tomato sandwiches(85 each) each made with Wasa sourdough rye hardtack(35) havarti cheese(~40) and sliced tomato(~10)

3:45PM - 422 cals.
Three servings of Lipton instant soup with chicken(240) augmented with one chicken bouillion cube(10?), 1/8 cup of rice(75), 2 cups of chopped broccoli(60), 1 cup of chopped mushrooms(15), and 1 tablespoon of grated parmesan(22)

Dinner at Luxia's. Had the mesclun salad with a crumb of bread, the country salad with chicken, and a few bites of Carolyn's mashed potatoes. Probably went several hundred calories over my day, but I figure it's ok after two weeks to have a "slip."

It will be nice to go below 210 in the next few days (tomorrow I hope.) Seeing that as my first milestone is making me wonder what the others are. I think my next three milestones should be:
  • 10 pounds lost
  • Dropping Below 200
  • 10% Body weight lost (21.6 pounds)
After that, and I think I'd be counting my eggs before they hatch. :)

Had dinner at Luxia. I started with an asparagus and portabello appetizer in a light vinaigrette with ground hazelnut. My entree was a tartly dressed mesclun salad with a few slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes. I also had three large olives from Carolyn's and Sue's dirty martinis and had a small sip too. I couldn't resist two bites of Carolyn's chicken. For dessert I had a few strawberry slices (less than one whole berry) and a tiny spoonful of chocolate cake. Overall calories probably aren't too high, but I don't really want to try to calculate them either.
